Hi, my name is Julie and I am part of Team 3. I am Vietnamese but my grandfather was part Chinese. I consider myself a great Vietnamese speaker although I was born here in the United States and have never taken classes. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and my family which includes my pets. I am the type of person who has a lot of hometown pride because everytime I hear something good about San Diego on the television or read about it on the internet I get excited. Also I go for the Chargers and Padres! I hope to get into a great college when I grow up and graduate. Also I hope that when I grow up I can volunteer at an animal rescue center because I love animals so much and I can’t stand by and hear about animals getting abused and mistreated.

Hi, my name is Mina and I am thirteen years old. I am originally from Serbia and I moved to San Diego at the age of four. Without knowing a word of English I struggled in the beginning but then blossomed into an almost perfect student. I am very thankful for the school I attend (Preuss School UCSD) and the wonderful sport I am a part of (squash). Being one of the two captains for Team 3, I push myself to be a good leader, and have good sportsmanship. I look at every day as a new chance to make a change in my life as well as the lives of others. Right now my main goal is to improve my grades, and play the best squash I can. This may mean giving up weekends and waking up early but I’m ready to be the best I can be, and to prove that I am capable of being good at anything I set my mind to. For those of you who might have doubted me in the past, look out because here I come.

One of my goals in life is to have fun doing my job. I do not know what I want as a profession but, I am thinking of business. If there was one thing I could not live without is my computer because I am always using it. I am either doing homework, looking up directions or just messing with the features.

Hey! My name is Tiffany and I’m an 8th grader at Preuss. I was born in Hong Kong, China in December, 1995 which means I’m 13 years of age! I came to the United States when I was 5. I have a very encouraging and supportive family: my dad, my mom, and my brother, Heidon (15). As a student, I’m diligent, ambitious, and organized. I currently have a solid 4.0 GPA. When I grow up, I want to become a biologist or biochemist (I haven’t decided yet). Some goals I wish to attain are: learning Spanish [correctly], improving in my squash, keeping my 4.0., and making new friends.
My passion are reading and playing sports. I especially love to read the Harry Potter series and mystery novels. I particularly love to play squash and basketball because it’s so challenging and gives me something to look forward to. Going to the mall, movies, restaurants, and hanging out with my best friends are some of my other hobbies. I currently love the movies: G-Force, Sorority Row, and 300. I have a very warm, outgoing, interesting, and optimistic personality; so, if you see me walking down the street, don’t be shy and say hello!
