Renato Paiva Executive Director came to San Diego to join Surf City Squash in May of 2007 from Harvard University where he was the Assistant Coach. Originally from Brazil, Renato was a Brazilian Junior Champion and a top junior in South America. He represented his home country on the national team as its captain. Paiva graduated from Ruy Barbosa University with a business degree.
Chris Walker Development Director has represented England almost 70 times, after first being selected in 1989. His crowning achievement for his country was to captain the England squad in their successful defense of the World Team Championships’ title in Malaysia in November 1997. Chris moved to Greenwich, CT in 2002 where he began coaching as well as playing some Squash as a way to 'ween' off the professional circuit full time. Now he has taken up the American Game of Hardball Doubles which he has been playing professionally since — climbing to a career high of No.2 team in the World with his partner, Canadian, Viktor Berg in 2006. Currently they are seeded 4 on the January 2007 list. Career Highlights: World No.4 and British No.1 (singles softball), World No.1 (Doubles Softball), World No.3 (Doubles Hardball) 3 x World Champion (2 World Team championships for England, 1 World Doubles championship), 3 x European Individual Champion, 2 x Commonwealth medalist, England Captain for 8 years. British Open finalist 2001.
Martha Mijes Academic Director graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006 where she founded an undergraduate run non- profit organization called CityStep that promoted the performing arts in underprivileged youth in the West Philadelphia community.
Paul Alexander Squash Director has coached several summers at the Princeton squash camps, as well as assistant coached for the University of Rochester and Harvard University.
